Ha ha I’m like you I don’t like all that Alexa and Siri stuff but I know all the younger ones love it.
You were a very wise and fun mom to let Morgan be Morgan!
I’m glad you’re going to take your time, like you said there’s no set date to have it done. When my dad passed away, I saved some of his shirts that I really liked seeing him in and then I remembered he had this one awful shirt that he really liked and I was going to throw it away but then I ended up keeping that one and it’s my favorite to this day because it was his favorite. So over time the things you want to save might change a little bit so don’t be in a big rush to get rid of anything.
By the way, is your mom still with us on earth or has she also gone to heaven. You may have said another post, but I was not in on the beginning.
So it's 230 am my time right now. I've been awake for the past hour so time to use this Open Thread as it is intended. You made a good point about not being too quick to get rid of her things because I might regret getting rid of some that I do. What made/makes your dad's favorite shirt so awful, and when did he pass?
My dad passed December 15, 2002 and my mom passed April 4, 2016. My dad was surrounded by every family member and we were there for his last breath. My mom's heart just stopped beating one morning unexpectedly while she was doing, or resting from doing, a crossword puzzle. It was completely unexpected. I was always thankful neither suffered long, debilitating illnesses.
I have been thinking about tomorrow's (later today now actually) longer post, as well as being hungry right now, but I'm not going to eat. Hubby and I started modified Keto this week, and I've been an intermittent faster for years. All that eating in the middle of the night, especially junk food, is/was not me.
Tomorrow I eat normal though because we are going on a very long hike to a place called Walls of Jericho. It's downhill to start then all uphill the whole way back, at least 2 hours each direction. We love hiking. Hiking to the top of Multnomah Falls near Portland, OR was one of our first dates.
Okay, feeling sleepy so I'm going to give it another try. Talk to you later Bellatrix.
Good morning I hope you got some sleep and thoroughly enjoy your full day today. I hope the weather is good. That sounds like a wonderful activity!
Like you I have lost both my parents. That is a blessing that your parents did not have long illnesses . My dear dad in 1992 suddenly, like your mom. He was 70 when he passed. He was 40 when I was born which was old back then. I was the last of five kids. My super sweet, fun mom passed away in 2018 after a brief illness. My dad never wore anything but button down regular shirts and somehow he came across some silky, disco looking snap button shirt, that oddly also had a country western flair lol. None of that fit his personality…I think he just liked the shirt because it was soft and maybe he liked the snap buttons?? …, but it was just hilarious when he wore it because this was after the disco era even after the urban cowboy trend 🤣😂. I thought it was really just a tacky ugly shirt lol but I’m glad I kept it. He was very conventional so this showed a little different side of his personality!
Looking forward to reading tonight‘s post in hearing how the hike went. I hope you ate some breakfast; I guess you need a lot of energy to burn for that long hike! I’d love to hear details: weather and sky conditions, and some of the natural beauty that you saw! So neat that was one of your first dates!
I can picture that shirt because I swear my brother had one exactly like it and wore it for a school picture in 1975 or 76 when he was like in 7th grade. My dad was 45 when I was born. Always the oldest dad. You are just 2-3 years older than me based on the dates you gave. The hike was amazing. The weather was in between 55-63 and the sun was out. It was probably 90 minutes down, hang out at bottom ( took socks and shoes off and carefully went from rock to rock and stepping in ice cold water, to get to the best spot for lunch )Then 2 hours mostly uphill. A few flat areas. At home we rewarded ourselves with fresh baked brownies and mint chocolate chip ice cream. I should sleep well tonight. I've got to go write the other posts now. 🙂
That’s pretty funny about your brother having a shirt just like that! I was on a Facebook page the other day about remembering the 70s and the fashions were very colorful to say the least! Wow, so your dad was even older than mine, rare back then. Our dads might’ve been close to the same age then since I’m older than you, my dad was born in 1922. My oldest brother was in the Air Force when I was a little girl, and when he would come home on leave, my friends would always ask me why I had two daddies.
Your outdoor adventure sounds wonderful, and I think a very medicinal thing for you to do. The fresh cool air and the sunshine must’ve really been invigorating! A taste of heaven. The Bible says Adam walked around in the cool of the day. And to come home to fresh baked brownies was truly the icing on the cake! So glad you and your husband had a wonderful day together and yes, I hope all the activity makes you both sleep so soundly!
My dad was born in 1920. My oldest brother was off at college by the time I was born but I don't remember my friends ever even seeing him. I took a benedryl just now for extra insurance of a good night sleep. I couldn't believe I'd had such deep sleep enough to dream after typing here in the wee hours last night. It truly made me happy.
