I just want to make a public notice here that there will be no Morgan Smith Memorial Beach Volleyball Tournament or scholarship this Saturday July 27th, or ever. There just was not enough interest, which doesn't surprise me. The adults Mo played with ten years ago now have young families of their own and don't play much. Juniors today were just kids then and have no idea who she is and no real reason to support it. I heartily appreciate the concept and attempt, but it’s just not meant to be, and that's okay.
I'll do my best to return money to individual donors or see if they'll allow me to donate it to the Animal Friends Humane Society instead. They have a program where a cat cage can be sponsored in Memoriam for a year with a $200 donation, complete with plaque. I look forward to directing funds in that direction for a couple cages for the foreseeable years to come. Mo would LOVE that.
Even though over the past couple of weeks I had a strong intuition that there was a 50% chance of this happening, I admit it still hurt. I was busy all day and didn't get out to walk until mid afternoon and went to Hays Backside. Because it had rained and was still very lightly sprinkling, we were the only ones there. Instead of using my ear buds, I saw no reason not to just listen to music through the phone speaker while walking. I haven't seen GBH in a couple weeks, but near the end of my walk, there she was, letting me know everything is fine, especially because of the words playing, caught on tape, while I filmed. Still picture first and video link below.

I am still going up to Ohio, seeing my son IN NASHVILLE on the way up, friends and family in Cincinnati and Toledo, and then my son IN NASHVILLE, along with some other family on the way back. If you are new here, my son just moved from Ohio to NASHVILLE a couple weeks ago, which brings so much joy!
I probably will not be writing again for a couple weeks. I hope you are all enjoying your summers!
I’m sorry the tournament didn’t happen. Your tournament is everyday anyway and you have succeeded. Thank you for sharing everything you did about Morgan and your journey. It is priceless. I have learned so much from you. Thank you!
Joan, your gut instinct about the tournament was correct all along & I am so sorry! And, as always, you are a “good sport “😊
So exciting for y’all with Evan in NASHVILLE. WHOOOO!!!!!! Tennessee is a good place 😊😊😊😊
Always know, no matter what happens or does not happen, Morgan’s memory & honor will always remain💕💕
Saving the animals , in her name, sounds perfect!!
