That's a new word, right? My young friend, S, and I have been hanging out for the past six hours and she's spending the night as well.
I wanted to take her clothes shopping for school, so we tried Plato's Closet with no luck, then headed to the mall. This is tax free weekend in Alabama for back-to-school supplies, clothes, etc., so it wasn't uncrowded.
We had quite a bit of luck and finished with Yolo Rolo ice cream which I’d never had.
Back at my house, we played with my animals, had dinner, and with my hubby as well, introduced her to The Bad News Bears movie, 1976 version, which she said she liked.
Next we decided to make homemade chocolate chip cookies and I told her I need to write my nightly post. She wanted to guest write, however, I reminded her this is a grief journal. She is very astute and said something to the affect, “You don't always have to write about sadness, right? You're happy today, like maybe you’re ungriefing.”
She's right. I am ungriefing today and it feels good. The long intimate visit from the butterfly yesterday really meant a lot to me, and perhaps because my close person is feeling it in the unbearable stage, I can step back and recognize how far I have come in seven months tomorrow.
Before all this I took the dog out for a walk by 730 in the morning and I went to The Spot. I couldn't stay long with Morgan today, actually had to walk right by, because there was a man doing surveying very close by, and I couldn't be seen talking to a tree.
It's definitely one day at a time, and I'm thankful for days like this one.
I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]
Philippians 4:13 AMP
Oh, I forgot to add a prayer for your friend. May God comfort her and her family with his infinite love and mercy and power.
That girl needs a substack! This was a cute post. So wonderful that you and this young lady are friends!
