I am one of those very blessed people who has had good friends my entire life. I have literally never felt friendless. My earliest friend's dad reads this blog almost daily. Next friend in line from my childhood literally reads this blog almost daily. From there we go to the woman who I've never not been friends with since 4th grade. She stepped into the role of MC for the Celebration of Life. It goes on and on. Some of the daily readers of this blog are the best friends I had in certain stages of my life. All of these women are amazing people and I've been so blessed to take this earthly ride with them (you!)
The woman who I refer to as Rock 3 also reads my blog a lot and likely read the “Lack of Motivation “ blog the other day because she texted and said she had some time to spare, and did I want to hang out and tackle some of the projects?
Just what I needed. Thank you Lord for Rock 3! We got a great amount accomplished this afternoon and I feel what's left I think I can handle now.
You know, when hubby and I got married in July 1989, the song we played while just the wedding party danced was “That's What Friends Are For.” I've always known the importance of friends and I thank God for always sustaining me with some great ones.
That's What Friends Are For"
(feat. Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder)
(originally by Rod Stewart)
And I never thought I'd feel this way
And as far as I'm concerned
I'm glad I got the chance to say
That I do believe I love you
And if I should ever go away
Well then, close your eyes and try
To feel the way we do today
And then if you can remember
Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forevermore
That's what friends are for
Well, you came and opened me
And now there's so much more I see
And so, by the way, I thank you
Oh, and then, for the times when we're apart
Well then, close your eyes and know
These words are comin' from my heart
And then if you can remember, oh
Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
In good times, in bad times
I'll be on your side forevermore
Oh, that's what friends are for, oh
Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forevermore
That's what friends are for
Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, oh, for sure
'Cause I tell you that's what friends are for
For good times and for bad times
I'll be on your side forevermore, oh
That's what friends are for
(Ha ha, that's what friends are for)
(Ha ha, yeah)
On me for sure
Count on me for sure
Count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
Keep smiling, keep shining
Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!
1 Peter 4:7-11 MSG
I’m so glad you are blessed with good friends. I’m blessed with many. Watching Gutfeld now and wising I wasn’t.
