Today. Obviously it's all about Saturday's Celebration of Life at this point. Honestly still not stressing but figuring out what needs to be done and doing it. Picked up the programs, the heart quilt, and some food in the morning.
In the middle of the afternoon, I got to see my childhood best friend, her husband, and her mom. Jill is going to be the MC on Saturday. We've been friends since 4th grade, Mrs. Cromly's class at Wayne Trail Elementary School in Maumee, Oh. She moved to Arizona in early high school, but time and distance have never eroded our friendship. It was weird when I pulled out of my driveway to meet them, the song by I think Dionne Warwick, “That’s What Friend's are for” was playing on the radio. Not a common occurrence, right? That song was the song we had playing at our wedding reception for the bridal party to dance to, of which Jill was a bridesmaid. (God wink)
In the evening Jill, her husband, and mom went with me to meet my Thursday night card group friends, who as you know, have been, and are, an incredible support. Old meets new. I think we all had a good time.
I keep myself from missing Morgan by concentrating on where she is. When I stop to think the thought of “ I'm never going to see her again here on this earth” it automatically brings tears to my eyes. We are going to celebrate her full force on Saturday, where old meets new, meets family, meets God hopefully. Ultimately that's the end goal. I want her death to have purpose.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:51)
Oh my friend, you are living proof that this promise of God is true. Thank you for your faith and example in the face of this tremendous difficulty.
May the Light of the Lord shine brightly upon you all this weekend!
