Another busy work day, which as I've mentioned I like. I still found the time to walk the route with The Spot and said “hi” to Mo. I was feeling fine most of the day, then in mid afternoon I was reminded of the Last Song, also known as “Dancing in the Sky” by Dani and Lizzy, and the remake by Mandi Fisher, and then I couldn't, or chose not to redirect it out of my head. I finally listened again and cried.
The song is both great and sad, but 19 times out of 20 it makes me cry pretty hard.
I wasn't sure of what else to write about tonight and thought I'd go the memory route. We texted almost every day so I thought I'd see what we'd done exactly one year ago. It was short with me asking “ when are you going to call?” and her responding,”tomorrow.”
The May 10th text, which is when half of you actually read this substack, was more interesting and I've screenshotted them.
She was 21 before she understood that the greenery usually hung at Christmas is called a wreath, not a reef. We’d had such a laugh when that came out, and here I was wondering if mashed had always been heard wrong, too. I sure miss her!
Sweet memories! My kids liked to put a Mc on everything, as in get your Mcjamas on!!
I’m laughing, that really is funny!😊It really is nice you have those texts to keep looking back on. Great memories! I love having all these pictures on my phone, as opposed to having them in photo albums, like we had years ago. I certainly look at them much more often.
