Am I too old to hang out and spend the night with six thirteen year old girls? Yes, apparently I am if I want to make it past late afternoon the next day! I'm pretty sure I only slept three or four hours last night, and that was with benedryl. We stayed up late playing games and talking and I was too hyped up to go right to sleep. The daylight around 5am always wakes me up so that was that.
I got a text that Birmingham Beach Volleyball juniors were in Huntsville this weekend and I wanted to give the director the big second banner (the first is in Cincinnati), and dozens of BBVB t-shirts and tank tops of Morgan's. I decided to quickly drive over and do the hand-off.
I honestly thought I'd be fine, but I heard the song, “It's Gonna Be Okay” on the way over and also got to thinking that “Morgan should be coaching with them this weekend” (like the last two years) and got teary. I handed off the items and left pretty quickly to get back to the camp group. I was surprised to find out they'll be putting on a Memorial Tournament in August already. I may be out of town at my 40th highschool reunion if it's the same weekend. Hope not!
The afternoon at the lake was wonderful watching the kids have a great time, and I got to hold a six-week old peanut of a baby. I didn't have to drive, but was the front seat passenger of a large van. Leaving the lake area, I was answering a text to the driver's phone when she gasped. She's a friend and a regular reader of “I Can't Imagine” who lost a daughter herself nine years ago. “There was a Great Blue Heron standing right there on the shore!” she exclaimed as we drove by. I didn't get to see her, but her spirit continues to follow me I guess. Pretty cool, and I'll take her no matter how I can get her: GBH, cardinal, or dream.
I left to go home after the lake just before dinner. There were enough adults helping at this point I wasn't needed. I decided to listen to my body and go.
Here's the banner. It was taken professionally at Nationals in Virginia Beach in 2015.
This was your kind of day, Mo!
(As with a lot of these nightly posts, I write them a few hours earlier than they actually post. I hope I'm sound asleep by the time you are reading this. Thanks for reading!)
Behold, I am with you and will keep [careful watch over you and guard] you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this [promised] land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Genesis 28:15 AMP
So glad you had fun with the young ones and I love the beautiful picture of Mo. Praying for you.
That banner sent chills down my spine! I just love it!❤️ I can’t wait to see you in August!😊
